We use mountain resources effectively.
Most of the mountains in Nachikatsuura Town are thickly covered with coniferous forests, and in some places there are areas where no light enters. Mountains that do not receive light are places where plants do not grow and it is difficult for plants and animals to inhabit. The mountain gradually becomes unhealthy and eventually becomes irretrievable.
In order to prevent such a situation as much as possible and to use the resources effectively, the staff at Daitaiji cuts trees from the surrounding mountains and uses them as firewood for their tent saunas.
By turning trees that could have ruined the forest into firewood, we are able to convert them into energy for human use, such as bonfires and tent saunas.
Experience chopping firewood, feeling the difference one by one.
At Daitaiji, we offer a wood-chopping experience for the general public.
The position of each knot, the grain of each piece of wood, etc., are all slightly different even though they are the same piece of wood. It may seem like a monotonous task, but in fact, unless you observe each piece of wood one by one and swing the axe down, it is difficult to split it. When it finally splits, you can smell the good aroma of the wood passing through your nose. You may find yourself so absorbed in the work that you lose track of time.
We will explain everything from the characteristics of the wood to how to use the tools, so please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
※You can also use the split wood for your tent sauna.
