AHIMSA Yoga is based right next to the World Heritage Site of Kumano Kodo.

Ms. Maki Yamaguchi, who is a certified Yoga Alliance instructor (RYT500) and a certified Kushana Yoga Teacher Training (TTC500) instructor, lives in Yokohama and runs her yoga classes from two locations. She started AHIMSA with the theme of “taking care of yourself,” and the meaning of AHIMSA is “non-violence = not hurting”. She values not hurting others as well as herself.

The Daitaiji temple in the Ota district is a historic temple with deep roots in the local community.

The main hall of the temple is a very open space when the shoji (paper sliding doors) are opened. The Yakushi Nyorai statue, designated as a national important cultural property, is located in the Yakushi Hall, where visitors can enjoy a unique private space. The venue changes from time to time, but I believe that yoga in a different space will refresh your body and mind even more.

Some people may have an image that yoga is not good for them because of their stiffness or other reasons. However, at AHIMSA Yoga, not only does the instructor plan the menu according to your level, but even beginners can feel at ease as they are carefully guided by the instructor who is there for them. In fact, many first-time yoga practitioners say they would like to do it again. The basic class time is 75 minutes. Whether it’s during your workday or with friends and family, why not get your mind and body in shape in an environment that is different from the norm?
